The USA Science & Engineering Festival Expo, presented by Lockheed Martin, will take place on April 7-8, 2018 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. The event is the nation’s largest celebration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) featuring over 3,000 hands-on exhibits, 30 stage shows and more!

BioXFEL will be located at Booth 5238.  We will be giving an introduction to protein crystallography and XFEL technology.  The booth will feature 3D printed molecular models (created by Buffalo Manufacturing Works), molecular model kits where students can fold proteins based on available models, rock candy growing demonstrations, and the XFEL Crystal Blaster Game on iPad.  Students will be able to walk away with knowledge of the 3D printing engineering process and the basics of protein crystal growth and structure determination with XFELs.  We will be distributing flyers with easy, fun at-home experiments to grow their own crystals.
